Sanders are electric or pneumatic tools that allow realize the sanding process efficiently and effectively way, obtaining high productivity compared to manual sanding process.
Within the paint area the painter has 2 basic tools, the paint gun and sander. The sanding process is approximately 65% of the time spent in repairing and painting cars, hence the importance lies in the knowledge, selection and use of the correct sanders and sandpaper in each type of work within the paint area.
The sander is a machine that reproduce the elliptical movement performed with a hand sanding, sanders use an dry sanding process where the dust generated during the operation is absorbed through the holes that have both the sandpaper and sander itself, dust absorption occurs through the use of suction devices (portable or fixed) which absorb and deposit all the dust in a warehouse for subsequent cleaning, preventing dispersion of dust from the environment.
The main advantages of using sanders are:

Can extend the life of the sandpaper, reducing the cost of using sandpaper.
Allow to obtain good quality surface finishes.
As main disadvantage is the difficult presented by these machines for sanding in areas with difficult access and edges, where it is necessary sanding by hand.
During its use is very important that sander work always f on the surface and not push hard on it, due it produce that the sander will work at lower rpm and reducing the life of the sandpaper, having to use too much sandpaper and a increasing the sanding time.

Sanders by type of movement that reproduces:
Vibrating sander-This type of sander, allow reproduce the elliptical movement that you can do by hand sanding, is mainly used for deburring and sanding surfaces with fillers.
Orbital sander - This type of sander has an inner shaft that allows it do rotary movement, thanks to this system eliminates the possibility of leaving sanding marks on the surface, is used in "fine" sanding operations.
Random orbital sander- This type of sander combines the advantages and movements of the vibrating and orbital sander, doing an elliptical and rotating sanding at the same time, is the most common use sander due the combination of both technologies (orbital and vibration) allows this type of machine for sanding putty and for matt painted surfaces.
Sanders by type of sandpaper:
Belt Sander - is a sander that has 2 rollers where you put the sandpaper, this type of sander used for sanding flat surfaces.
Rectangular sander – sander contains a rectangular plate where place the sandpaper, is used for sanding small surfaces.
Circular sander - The sandpaper that are placed on the sander are circular, there are of different diameters, the most used circular sanders are 77mm and 150mm of diameter.
Delta Sander - These machines have a triangle-shaped plate which holds the sandpaper, are used for sanding corners angled and edges. Some models have a delta sanders hexagonal plate, also name as mouse or corner sanders.
Multi Sander – Are those sandpaper which have interchangeable plates for different types of sandpaper that can be used, in one sander can sand with triangular, circular or rectangular shape sandpaper.
For the power supply:
Pneumatic - sanders are commonly used in the paint area, since it eliminates all risks associated with the use of electricity, are lighter and generate less noise than the electric sanders, their main disadvantage need compressed air facilities that feed on air (filtered oil and moisture) to the sander.
Electric - The main advantage of using the power sanders is that you get a fixed operating speed and do not require expensive facilities to maintain, against pneumatic sanders electric are heavy weight machines, noisy and need to constantly taken measures in order to avoid shunts or electric shock during use.
